Our Mission

Angels of Hope’s mission is to provide critical support to Michigan families directly impacted by cancer. Our goal is to help ease the burden caused by the disease, its treatment and its devastating effects – both financial and emotional.

We tailor grant programs for each family we work with, so they receive help where they need it most. Angels of Hope has also developed a series of unique programs that provide emotional support to families coping with cancer.

Project 21

In his healthy times, Jake was an avid baseball player who donned the number 21 on his uniform. Inspired by Jake, his family and the grace and mercy by which they live, Project 21 was born.

This pediatric hospice specific program provides end-of-life grants to parents whose child is in the final days of their cancer battle.

If you are in need of assistance while your child is receiving home hospice care, please email [email protected] for information on how to apply.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The goal of our signature program is to support children and those who love and care for them as they face the many physical, emotional, and financial challenges that accompany the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

The program is only for residents of the State of Michigan. There is nothing cookie cutter about the program – grants are tailored to the specific needs of the family. If you review the “Our Impact” page you will see the summaries of the wonderful families we have been able to support under this program.

The program helps families in a variety of areas, but often includes rent, mortgage, auto and utility payments. All payments are made directly to the creditors.

SMILES PROGRAM

Because families miss a great deal of normal family and school events due to diagnosis and treatment, we try to provide our families a ‘Day Off From Cancer’. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors like The Detroit Tigers, The Detroit Pistons, LaFontaine Automotive Group, Lucido Fine Jewelry and Weaver Media we often provide our families tickets to special experiences (e.g. Disney on Ice, Sesame Street Live, Circus tickets, Sporting Events and Concerts).

We often say, ‘it takes more than medicine’ to battle cancer, and these events help a family take the day off, create smiles and make memories.   Some events event include VIP/Suite experience and Chauffeur Transportation.

Interested in donating to the program?  Please e-mail [email protected] with details.  This program is reserved for families already enrolled in our programs.  We maintain an active e-mail distribution list for invites.

LASTING MEMORIES

The foundation can help provide complimentary portrait sessions for the family. We will work to identify a professional photographer in your area to design a personalized set of family portraits.

These images portray the love, innocence and gifts in all of the families we work with. Through this program families will be provided professional photographs that capture and preserve tender moments of their lives at no cost to them. Creating lasting memories for the family.

Unfortunately some of our families lose their loved one. At a time when people are not considering professional pictures we can help supply families with portraits. These pictures help families with the grieving process by giving them memories they can hold onto for a lifetime.

ANGEL VOLUNTEER NETWORK

We are a 100% volunteer organization and we always welcome those who wish to lend their skills and abilities. Only with the volunteers’ generous hard-work and dedication can we continue to provide hope and support to children and their families as they battle cancer. If you are interested in signing up as an individual or company, please contact our volunteer coordinator at [email protected] and someone will follow up with you.

We have needs in a variety of areas:

Grant Committee – review applications and contact families to tailor grant packages

Auction Committee –  collect donated items to auction/raffle at our ongoing fundraising events

Marketing Committee – assist with PR, Social Media and/or other promotional efforts

Event Volunteer – volunteer your time at our fundraising event (e.g. Golf Outing, Night of Hope)

HOLIDAY PROGRAM

This Program was established from of our belief that “no child should go without a Christmas”. The Program provides a Christmas package to families “in-need” in an attempt to help take away some of the financial impact of the devastating effects of cancer at Christmas time.

This allows families to take pleasure in enjoying the true meaning of the holiday season. When we provide Christmas for a family, it’s not just about giving them Christmas gifts — it’s about trying to restore some normalcy, happiness and hope to their lives.

This Program is organized by us and completely funded at the holidays by our base of generous contributors. Together we work diligently to rekindle the hearts of families each holiday season.
