Cruz’s illness began last Fall. His parents explained that he wasn’t acting normal – not eating, not playing and was very sleepy. He was originally diagnosed with a viral infection and his parents were directed to bring him back to the doctor if he didn’t improve in 3 weeks. When he didn’t improve, his parents took him back to the doctor, a full blood panel was run, and they were directed to take Cruz immediately to the hospital.

Due to Cruz’s many complications and treatments, his parents have missed a significant amount of work.
