The Ford family from Flint received a free house, which was donated by Wells Fargo to Angels of Hope.

The Ford Family had recently been hit with some difficult times. The father had been laid off from his welder job and the mother does not work.

In August, their youngest of three children, daughter Grace,  was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a highly malignant primary brain tumor that grows rapidly and often metastasize to other locations in the brain or along the spine.

The family had originally reached out to Angels of Hope in December of 2011 with a request for funds to help repair their car, which was their only means of making the hour-plus drive to take Grace to the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor for her treatments.

After the $2,000 grant to fix the car, Angels of Hope was presented with a house in Dearborn from Wells Fargo in early 2012. It was then that the organization that decided to give this house to the Ford family.

The new location will cut their previous commute to the hospital in half.

The Fords are set to move into the house at the end of May.

As with any project we do, we would like to recognize the following individuals for their dedicaton and support.  Gena Foster of Chace Properties and The Wells Fargo Team (Alex Krog, Angela Van Hauen, and Tyler Smith).  Gena and the Team from Wells Fargo were with us every step of the way and were deeply committed to the success of this project for Grace and her family.

Tim Darnall with RemTek Environmental, LLC. was generous enough to cover the 1st years insurance on the property.  Cash donations from Ron Ellison of American Title of Jackson, Dave Kughn and family for cash donations to assist with moving expenses. And of course, our team of Angels that have volunteered to move the family (Kirk Riska, Rachel Kies, Angel Riska , Rob Gish and Gena Foster).  Don Koveleski with Hilltop Contracting will be installing a electric lines for their appliances.  Finally, thanks to the team at John J. Davey, P.C. in Madison Heights, MI for handling all of the legal paperwork on this project.
