MICHIGAN FAMILY CANCER ORGANIZATION AIDES MORE THAN 100 LOCAL FAMILIES IN 2012

Angels of Hope Doubles Last Year’s Figures by Writing 111 Grants

METRO DETROIT, January 2, 2013 — With more than a doubling of 2011 figures, the nonprofit family cancer organization, Angels of Hope, has raised more money than ever before, which allowed its board of directors to aid more than 100 Michigan families in 2012. An organization dedicated to helping families who have been afflicted by cancer, Angels of Hope is based in Metro Detroit and aids families throughout Michigan. “This has been a banner year for us,” said Bill Wylonis, Chairman of Angels of Hope volunteer board of eight. “We’ve had overwhelming support from the entire community and made some great partnerships that helped us to raise a significant amount of money, and what that means for us is that we are able to help more and more families.” The 111 families aided in 2012 represents a total of $270,750 in grants given, another new high for the organization. These figures are more than doubled the organization’s 2011 figures of 53 families, totaling $113,666.97. Over the previous years, Angels of Hope has been trending upward, helping 39 families ($123,140.78) in 2010 and 19 families ($47,653.18) in 2009. “We’re a board of volunteers,” Wylonis said. “We don’t take a paycheck, we don’t take any benefits, the only thing we get out of this is the feeling that we’re making a difference in the lives of those who need it — who are facing a serious issue.” Composed of a dedicated volunteer board of directors, 100 percent of Angels of Hope’s donations and event proceeds go out to families, ensuring that each dollar raised goes as far it can to do the most good. For more on Angels of Hope and how you may help, visit AngelsofHope.org.   About Angels of Hope For nearly a decade, the volunteer board of directors of Metro Detroit-based nonprofit organization Angels of Hope has been a resource for Michigan families who have been afflicted by cancer, both a child’s as well as a parent’s. Through financial grants, Angels of Hope has helped lessen the burden felt by these families during trying times. The organization also goes beyond financial assistance and helps facilitate lasting experiences for children. AngelsofHope.org

Dear Prospective Sponsor: The very day a family member receives that dreaded diagnosis of cancer, fear and uncertainty become the new normal. Whether it is a parent, or worse yet a child, work schedules are altered to accommodate doctor appointments and care needs. Often families are so overwhelmed, that one or both parents will be forced to leave his or her job - which wreaks havoc on the family’s finances. That, of course, adds even more stress to an already stressful situation. Angels of Hope is a nonprofit organization that addresses this very issue by providing financial assistance to children and their families during this difficult time. These expenses include mortgage or rent, groceries, utilities, insurance, automobile expenses, education and, God forbid, funeral expenses. Troy High School’s Boys’ Lacrosse program is once again sponsoring Angels of Hope by dedicating a game to raise money for this most worthwhile charity. Romeo High School Boys’ Lacrosse team has agreed to play Troy on April 27th. This event serves as a testament to the importance of kids helping kids, community supporting community, and surely the important life lesson to young people of the value of community service. All positions within this organization are 100% volunteer based and are not compensated. Be assured also, that all proceeds raised from this event will benefit Angels of Hope – A Family Cancer Foundation. [A 501(C) (3) nonprofit organization: Federal ID # 04-37952360]. From a community business point of view, this event offers the unique opportunity for financial support though advertisement. Included below are many different sponsorship opportunities that will allow us to reach our goals and make a difference together. We are very sensitive to the economic hard times facing everyone, including businesses, and of course we thank all past, current and future charitable support. Please join us as we cheer on the victors at the “Field of Angels” game at Troy High School on April 27, 2013, knowing full well that the true victors are those families that are helped by this charitable event! We are happy to answer any questions regarding the game, please contact parent volunteer, Damian Hayden at 248-835-3974. Sincerely, Troy High School Boys’ Lacrosse GO COLTS! Chandler Park Academy’s Michigan Youth in Government program selected to help Angels of Hope with the goal of making a difference in our local community—little did we know what a difference sixteen 9th and 10th grade students could make! We “adopted” a family affected by cancer and set a high objective for ourselves to be able to purchase a refrigerator and clothing off of our family’s wish list. To raise money, our school support us in our “Week of Hope.” Day one involved educating our entire student population on Angels of Hope through the Angels of Hope website and introducing the student body to our adopted family. Days two and three included a ribbon sale, to spread awareness about how cancer affects families, and classroom and lunchroom change wars, where students collected pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and even bills. For day four, all Michigan Youth in Government students, with the aid of their parents, brought in food for our after school bake sale. Our “Week of Hope” culminated with a school-wide dress down day, in which our normally-uniformed students wore awareness ribbons and jeans for $2.00. In the end, our school far-surpassed our goal of a fridge and clothing; we raised nearly $2,000. The Michigan Youth in Government students were moved with how much of a difference they could make and our school was proud and impressed with the outcome. Our students hope to make the “Week of Hope” an annual occurrence and even want to get involved in the Christmas program this year.
