Timothy Allen (T.J.) is only two years old. He lives with his Mom – Shannon, Dad – Tim and his two sisters – Jennavive (10) and Judith (1). The family lives in Lincoln Park, Michigan.
T.J. has been diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma (cancer of the liver). He has been in the hospital since diagnosis going through tests and chemotherapy to determine the best course of treatment. He eventually will be in need of a liver transplant. However, he must go through chemotherapy before he is able to receive a new liver. As devastating as this news was for Shannon and Tom, they were then told that doctors had discovered a hole in T.J.’s heart that would need to be repaired first. Because of the tumors due to his cancer, the procedure cannot be done through the veins in his leg, as is the usual process, but he will need open heart surgery.
Shannon has been a stay at home mom caring for the couple’s children. However, since T.J.’s diagnosis she and Tim have both remained at his side. Family and friends have stepped up to help care for Jennavive and Judith. Tim has been unable to work or to even look for work since the family’s life took this tragic turn and the family is now struggling financially just to make ends meet.
Angels of Hope will be assisting Shannon and Tim with payment of some of their basic living expenses such as utilities, food and rent, allowing them to focus on the long road ahead for T.J.
