Lanyiia Cook is five years old and lives with her mom and her grandmother, Diana, who is also her legal guardian, and her older brother, James (8), in Detroit, Michigan.
In April of 2016 Lanyiia was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) – a brain tumor. A non-operable tumor at the base of her brain. Immediately Lanyiia began an intense radiation and chemotherapy regimen.
Lanyiia is being raised by both her mother and her Grandmother, Diana, who is her legal guardian. Once Lanyiia was diagnosed, Diana, was at her side through every single test and treatment and has remained at her side. She has not returned to work since Lanyiia’s diagnosis. Diana is also the legal guardian to eight-year-old James.
This dedicated and loving grandmother has spent every penny of her savings to care for Lanyiia and James. Her car is in desperate need of repairs. At this time, she is paying for transportation to get Lanyiia to her outpatient treatments. The family’s financial situation is desperate.
Angels of Hope will be assisting Diana with the payment of some of her daily living expenses during this very difficult and sad time so that she is able to continue to support and care for both Lanyiia and James.
