Ana Cuellar is 8 years old. She lives with her mom – Ana and Dad, Cesar, and siblings – Cesar (7) and Alejandra (5) in Hudsonville, Michigan.
In 2014 Ana was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). She was in remission following treatment. However, sadly, in June of 2016 she relapsed and is once again in treatment. She will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant that will require a 100-day hospital admission.
Since Ana’s relapse, her mom, Ana, has left her job to care for Ana and take her to her treatments and will remain by her side while she recovers following her bone marrow biopsy. This leaves Cesar, working as a waiter, as the only source of income for this family of five. The family has relocated from their home in Kalamazoo to Hudsonville to be closer to Helen DeVos Hospital where Ana is now receiving her treatments and will be following her transplant.
This family is struggling financially since Ana has relapsed due to the loss of income and the increased expenses of relocating.
Angels of Hope assisted this family in 2014 during Ana’s original diagnosis and is honored and happy to be able to assist this family during another emotionally and financially devastating time while they support Ana through another round of treatments and her transplant.
